I could submit iPhone app ideas to the AppIncubator all day long. Can’t wait to strike it rich!

Finally, I won the Art Awards office pool. It came down to the tie-breaker question, “How many photos will Artforum.com run on their write-up of the event?” I was off by 2. Drinks on me!

I know Halloween is over, but I keep thinking back to one year in grade school when I showed up to homeroom dressed as half-boy, half-girl. This costume was lovingly made by my mom (do we still have it? What a relic that would be!), but I didn’t actually choose it. Just another begging-to-get-me-ridiculed hand-me-down but with a gender-bending bonus (that year I had a classmate who asked me why my mostly white, but also hot-pink, and magenta puffy winter coat was so dirty. It’s not my fault!). Anyway, this costume was, on top, a Vikings or some such shirt cut in half down the middle and sewn to one-half of a girl shirt (can’t remember what), and on bottom, one-half of a pair of black slacks (drive-thru, as they say) attached to one-half of a pleated skirt. My hair was put into a side ponytail so I’d be baldish on the boy side. “Are you a cheerleader?” one optimistic classmate asked. I wonder what shoes I wore. I also once had an out-of-body experience while standing in the outfield during a kickball game at that school. I told my sister and dad about it at dinner that night, I said, “Have you have felt like your body isn’t there anymore and you are just your head, floating in the air?” I think they laughed at but also humored me. I was a really bad outfielder and afraid of sports, so maybe that had something to do with it. Remember when you used to machine-wash and dry your Nikes?

Did you know that if you’re waiting for a 2 am bus in the middle of nowhere Greenpoint when daylight savings kicks in you will have to wait an extra twenty minutes for the 1:15 am bus to come because 2 am doesn’t exist yet? It was a harsh reality last night but we were entertained by two French girls who complained that the party we were all at was so bad because there were “no places to sit around and have a chat.” True, civilized French girls! Luckily we had the bus stop for that, so I think their evening turned out okay.

Cherry channeled Patsy and I came along for the ride. The act even carried into November—chugging water this morning, “Health, health, health, dahling!” I’m chanting as we speak.
